Nah- wouldn't drain if it was higher than the turbo ;) It's crankcase breather, goes to the catch tank  :)

hehe, I had a second look at the pictures an hour later and thought it would be that - pretty damn sweet breather hose!!

Some quality work and cool bits on this Pete, really very nice.
I see you haven't lowered the steering arm pickups on the struts, I assume you'll only be running slightly lower than standard to allow for travel?
That cage is stunning, superbly installed and an excellent design. Do you have any idea of what it weighs? What is your target weight for the build, do you reckon you'll be able to keep it down near or slightly below standard?

Richard- remember the struts aren't stock  ;) I've not measured the steering arm height compared to stock- but have some fag packet maths with my wheel/tyre combo and spring choice the steering arms aren't far off level. The cup car kit doesn't really do travel...  ;D Shimmed with a choice of either slip in nylon spacers, or dismantle and fit metal rings, or remove them.

I guess the cage & all associated metal is 40kg and probably a few kg of welding wire into the chassis stiching.

Target weight is 800kg. Stock G40 is 830kg my rough reakoning:

Added Weight (63kg ish):
Nitrous bottle 5kg (worth it)
Subframe 7kg (again worth it)
Big I/C (3kg over stock)
Oil cooler (1kg)
Extra rad support bar, additional bracing (2kg)
Diffuser (5kg)
Cage (40kg)

Removed Weight (72kg):
Spare Wheel (10kg)
Jack & Brace (3kg)
Rear Wheel Well (3kg)
Rear Seats (10kg)
Seat Belts (7kg)
Sound Proofing (15kg)
Stock front seats vs light buckets (20kg)
Doorcards (2kg)
Stereo (2kg)
 
Car still has all steel panels, and full glass- I can crop a further 20kg with a bonnet change and plastic rear windows, which I might do in the winter. Having said that 800kg and 230bhp should be ample!

Progress, turbo mocked up:







I removed the manifold and had a fitting welded on for EGT, and then heat wrapped it, I'd originally planned to ceramic coat it, but at nearly £300 for a manifold and downpipe I decided against it.







Then popped it in:









Got a few more bits to do on the interior, but I made a switch panel for the wideband, nitrous, and bottle heater, and a kill switch- so that looks abit neater now, and put the rollcage padding on:

I love it! The level of detail in this build is what I most enjoy - like the EGT sensor expert positioning and the manifold heat wrap, the black (I hope it stays black!) looks fantastic and the little twists of wire holding it all together really set it off. Superb!

looks great, you should get a turbo blanket too for more insulation.

Why have you got the camwheel exposed? Is this to allow for quick changes to timing? I thought you'd have a vernier on there too, or is that not neccesary?

Originally it was cut for a vernier pulley, mine now resides on Hayeseys car :) luckily I was able to time it up spot on with a standard pulley and a re-timed crank pulley.

Boost about 18psi to start with, then turn the wick up to 21/22psi. I'm tempted to do this with a bleed valve so I can adjust it in car though...

Pipe insulation is alot thinner, this stuff is apparently fire resistant too.
