Nice work Pete  8)

Are you going to be using this for competition?

Nope - just for trackdays, racing involves contact, and deep pockets! This keeps me entertained in the garage, lets my try things out, and hopefully will translate to something quick on track!

Almost finished the rear sections of the floor now, started off making a dozen nylon spacers to ensure the floor is at the desired clearance to the ground:

After that I could offer up the laser cut plates I'd designed a few weeks back, and see if my measurements were correct (they were):

With the help of various clamps, pri-pins and the button heads, I started to attach it to the frame:

Many rivets later....

Happy with the fit:

So I've got to take the diffuser blades to a local company to be bent, as they're longer than any folder I can borrow, once that's done and they're riveted on, the floor is done (for now). Can then whip it off, primer and treat the underside, refit the fuel tank, make a few modifications to the axle, and then get the car back round the correct way!

All for now  :)

That looks really good. Can't wait to see the whole package with splitter etc. Are you going to make some bergcup style sideskirts as well to increase the area?

Yoof

Yup - they're being made currently  ;)

P1rik

Awesome work. Just a quick question I have been trying to get hold of Wl motorsport for some berg cup arches but i can't get any repley just wondered if you could help thanks

Yoof

Thanks - try ringing them (preferably with someone who speaks German)

Ian Johnson

I translated an email I sent them into German but still didn't get a reply to 2 emails I sent them either.

P1rik

Ok I will give it ago how did you manage to get yours ?

Yoof

PM me with what you need and I'll see if I can procure them through PPP

Spent a little bit of time on this recently, first up was a tweak of the rose joint mounting position on the rear axle, rotated through 90' for clearance to the diffuser:

Next up was painting all the flat floor supports, and heatshrinking the nylon spacers in plce so they don't move when I attach the floor:

Repeat many times:

Once I'd done that the diffuser plates had been done, so I rivted them up and admired my handy work:

I then took the floor off, so I could remove the spit and flip the car over:

I pushed it outside and checked my jacking bars fitted:

Blew the dust off the interior

Then used two farm jacks to raise it onto my stands:

Set it all level (flat floor is level with the sill)

Re-attached the floor:

And retired for the evening:

Not done much on this recently, aside from lots of measuring regarding suspension/chassis pickup points, I think my Vento suspension will work...

Finally worked out a combination of OEM components to give a fairly interesting Powertrain. Turbo from a Seatsport Supercopa, Transmission from a Mk5 Golf GTi, coupled with Audi A3 Diesel stub shaft and intermediate shaft, hopefully allowing far more even length driveshafts, all coupled to an old AGU I got for a ton!

More chassis leg doctoring required   ;D

MaxGT

Outstanding as always. Does that mean theres a spare adapter plate in need of a home? 😊

Oft! Great work Pete, love the floor! Have we started calling this Frankenstein yet?
