Right where do i start.

Whilst driving along my G40 decided to cut out on me, it struggled to restart but finally when it did she wouldnt hold idle.

After giving her another attempt she adled for around 30seconds and decided to cut out again.

I am stumped & don't know what to do as the G40 was running fine without skipping a beat.

Where do i start & what do i check?

Has anyone suffered the same symptoms?

Thanks in advance.

First things first, are you getting fuel pressure?

Then I'd start checking ignition components; starting with earth straps, leads, plugs, distributor, coil, and of course all associated connectors etc

Then move onto idle adjustment settings, though if its suddenly stopped working then its more likely to be a component failure so there'll be no need to check anything in this area.

Once started does or can the engine rev at all?

Thanks for your reply.

Once the car starts up with the throtle open she revs fine, although when you release the throtle it will cut out and wont hold idle.

hi yeh ive checked that the car has fuel pressure thats ok

did all the earth leads to the engine and chassis

checked dizzy cap and rotar arm all seems ok saparking ok

:'(

but it has got better and now dose hold idel till it get worm and the fan kicks in

then it just keeps cutting out i think it might be a a doggy fuel pump so i am gonna replace the relay tomarrow and see wot it dose.

thanks

check the alternator voltage too - if its low if might cause issues and obviously if booted will generate more leccy.

Blue temp sender can cause stalling..

sohailG40

could it be the fuel fillter coz that is one part which i have not changed yet?

thank you for your reply

PeteG40

can;t hurt - i think fuel filters should be replaced about evey 60k from memory
