going to look at hopefull y my new g40 :-)
« on: December 20, 2009, 04:54:46 pm »
Well after selling my Eaton'd G40 to Giorgio a couple of years ago, I've missed the G that much that I'm off to look at one this coming week. I've since owned a mk1 g60 16v but even with close to 300bhp, it did not feel as urgent a the G40.

Plan is to buy a good example and then spec her up as before, Although I did love the Eaton(and one may come my way soon) I shall either stay with an R1 lader or go turbo route.

Cant wait to get behind the wheel again.  Very basic car but power to weight makes it all worth while.  I may even try and make the interior more luxury ;)

I'll post up as soon as I've seen her

Ben

Hello Ben, good to have you back in the fold :)

Do you still have the S3?

no mate I've just shifted her on to the tune of a tidy £1200 clear profit after a years motoring.  I've bought my cousins black Seat Leon cupra (03 reg) 58k miles and mint condition with a REVO map for half the price I sold the S3 for, hence why I'm treating myself to a G.  there's one in particular thats caught my eye which I'm off to see on tues although I've seen a royal blue one for sale In Daventry close to me.   8)

Just got to decided whether to stay supercharged or go turbo, kinda feel the turbo is losing the spirit of the G40 :-(

Rae should take heed at this then..selling a nice G40 for a series one S3 :D

Supercharged all day long for me on that argument. Might not be the sensible or reliable option, but we wouldn't have all opted for the fast polo if that was the stumbling block ;)

welcome back Ben.  nice to get a surprise text off you the other day!  I knew you'd be back on the g40 scene.  If power is what your after I'd go for the turbo.  There's a wealth of knowledge now with the turbo applications and they certainly seem the route to go.  If your sticking with superchargers why dont you keep the G lader, spec it up a bit and invest in some handling upgrades.  I think a nicely set up 150bhp G40 on original charger with some fresh parts, a subframe, good wheels and tyres, brakes and suspension could be a real weapon.

Well both of the G's I am looking at are both equipped with Jabba R1 spec chargers both of which have been recently serviced :)

I think I will take it as far as I can with the G-lader and concentrate on brakes and chassis.  I will prob opt for PPP subframe and one G needs an exhaust, so If I could get my hands on a PPP full system, I will do :-)

misseed the G40 scene, look forward to getting back into it and hitting the shows hard in 2010.

I know the feeling of missing the G40!

I sold mine after owning it for 2yrs and had to buy it back as i missed it so much.

Owned mine now for about 2 yrs and enjoy it everytime i drive it, even go driving it just for the sake of it at times, never get that feeling with the A3 or the R32! Will never sell the thing, was going to sell it to fund a Honda S2000 a few months ago but decided that parting with the G would be a massive mistake, so its going to go into storage for the winter months rather than selling it.

yup, i'm already figuring how I will be putting my own mark on it.  To Be honest I'll prob whip the engine straight out and give the bay a respray for shows etc.  May even go BVH route :-)
