I was thinking of investing in an oil cooler kit,  i was just wondering where you would mount it if you had a standard or uprated intercooler.  If you could post some pics i would be very gratefull.

escort cosworth mate, got a charge cooler built into it too ;)

Alex

Mine's tucked in between the radiator and the bumper iron. You can see it just below the number plate here:

mines sat up behind where the passenger side fog light would be.

Did anyone buy their own heat exchanger and do their own work or did you all buy a kit??

If you did It yourself how did you go about it??

Thanks for the advice and pics

hayesey

I bought my own heat exchanger, thermostatic sandwich plate and got the pipework made up at a hydraulic pipe place in Rochdale.

Then for mounting the heat exchanger, got the welder out and made some brackets.

i done the same as haysey too. i used a vauxhall thermo plate though, free off a friend, there on red tops and let turbo's. think they are on some early 2.0 8v's too

when mounting the cooler behind the passengers fog light, did you have to cut holes for the pipes or can the be routed to the sandwhich plate without cutting etc.

cheers

lance

no you dont need to cut anything mate, there is a gap behind the headlight and then bellow the chassis leg

How much money did you boys save by make shifting your own kit??

hayesey

the only thing I had to cut was the bumper iron, I'm trying to find a pic I know I've got somewhere but can't at the moment.  You can kind of see it in these pics though:
