mk4 g40 on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Polo-mk4-G40-engine-surperchared-vr6-g40-/140562086946?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item20ba273c22#ht_678wt_1141

now maybe because i am getting old now, it annoys me this advert as he seems to think it is fine to tell his insurance it is a 1.4

the advert is piss poor, and the awful spelling makes me form a view of the guy already.

Also 178bhp is some high figures for a g40 engine, so im guessing that is bullshit too?

No MOT did it for me, and if it will fly frew then you would have mot'd it.

yeah if he has an accident, but who are we to preach, hopefully karma will sort him out

i can not see that car going for much as there is no mention of anything relevant in the advert, poly bushes all round? i bet there aint!

but like already said, print out for the bhp? there is no way (from my knowledge) he can be getting those figures without some hefty engine mods and even then it is still high

im resisting messaging him and asking questions...

Dear neil_escortrsturbovan,

hi mate

can you please show proof of the bhp claim? that is about 205bhp at the fly and in my 10 years of g40 ownership i have never seen it.

What is the spec and details of the engine? charger service? have the rear axle bushes been swapped for poly aswell?

Also sorry to preach a little but you do know your insurance is void if you have it down as a standard 1.4?

Also if it will fly through an mot then surely for the price of an mot it would boost the sale price much more? when did the current mot run out?

thanks

Dan

So i can say that when my car was rr'ed i made 191bhp? Using a crap rr then!

And i like the way he has avoided the charger service and engine spec. He must not know anything about it.

I might mail him too.

The insurance thing is fraud as he's directly lying when they ask if the car is standard. We've all done it from time to time, although if you have 7 cars I imagine you'd have the extra couple hundred quid for an accurate policy (my reason was always lack of money anway!).
178@ the fly would be realistic I'd have thought? Perhaps he had his Ford Kevscort hat on when writing the ad and thought he'd be a bit cheeky by saying it was at the wheels.
Does come across as a bit of a plumb to me.

As for the MOT thing, I just sold my 6n2 cheap as I really couldn't be arsed to insure it, drive it to an MOT place (when I'm always at work 40 miles away) organise transport back/ there, etc....... it's not always convenient and sometimes people (like myself) will just take less money for it as a result. My 6n2 had sat on the drive for 18 months and had about £700 spent on it (parts), plus the cost of the car, plus my time and effort and a trip to Liverpool and back to swap engines..........it sold for £500. I also gave him a mk2 8v golf engine as well as the original polo engine.......again because I can't be bothered/ haven't got time to sort everything and sell it for as much as poss.
