Oil near the throttlebody?
« on: June 09, 2010, 03:01:36 pm »
I had a loose pipe on the right hand side of the throttlebody so I put a new jubilee clip on but before I did I had a nosey and there was oil in the throttlebody and in the loose pipe, is this normal??

I dont really understand how the 'mist of oil' lubricates the charger because wouldnt the charger blow it round to the throttlebody and into the inlet mani then into the head ultimately burning oil?

Im confused??

Maybe my chargers about to shit itself and nows a good time to fit my rebuilt ported charger??

depends how much oil, a coating on the inside of the boost pipes, throttle body etc... is normal.  If there's loads of oil in there then probably means you need a charger service.  Undo one of the boost pipes and see how much oil is in there.

looks like an acceptable amount of oil to me tbh but someone else might know better.
the butterfly you are looking at in the second photo is the boost return photo, its the other one that goes to the manifold that gets dewedged mate, you can just see if it has been dewedged the boost pipes are off and you look at the right angle and open the throttle.
