cambelt change?
« on: July 31, 2008, 06:27:44 pm »
the car had a new vag cambelt and waterpump about 40k ago.  now i have no issues and have checked the belt and it seems fine but i'd like to get it changed around MOT time around January.

so around 50k since last time for the two by that time.  60k is the recommended time isnt it between changes? so i should be alright?

obviously the sooner the better with any part but around 60k is the reommended intervals thats what i need to know.

I think VW quote 60k but the haynes says 40k.  Personally I'd stick to 40k. Can't be too careful really.

40.000miles, also change and the water pump, cause it has no tentioner bearing and the pump is getting warned out rapidly

I wouldn't bother with a water pump change at 40k miles tbh. Thats assumig you fitted a new VAG pump when you rebuilt the engine?
