G40 Rear ended! :'(

Someone hit the back of me last night, I think it will be a write off :-(

will try and get some pics up, but she just missed the rear hatch, was the rear quarter and back panel she hit (plus rear light)

Quite upset but will do everything in my power to keep it on the road!

quite often a rear quarter will be a write off.  Re-shell to make it live again.

Dont know entirely, when the belts wern't slipping it was quite a monster.

What I do know its an R1 charger with 65mm pully + chip, got that intake and heat shield too...

Bodywork was V clean, just 1 rust spot below drivers door!

i think the insurance will write it off.. needs a new qtr +paint = uneconomical repair.

Easiest thing would be to get a decent mk3 shell and transfer it all over

if you wanna keep it which you do by sounds of it get a nice clean shell and start over as pete says

*sigh* this week just had to get worse...

When I got out the car I told the lady she should have got the volvo that stopped automaticly!

Very sad to see it go, anyone know of a G40 shell that needs an engine to save it?

One of mine had a very similar rear end shunt (at about 2mph). Not quite as bad as yours; panel beat rear quarter, new light and bumper, welded in the small panel below light, respray rear quarter. It was £750 about 5 years back at a VW main dealer bodyshop with all VW parts. The insurance wanted to right it off but I expained to the assessor that it was a G40 not a standard Polo and he was fine with getting it fixed. On mine there was no damage to the boot floor or inner panels at all.

Thats harsh mate. Gonna be a write off almost without fail. Re-shell then, and 'is that your neck hurting'?
