fuel consumption
« on: January 14, 2009, 11:22:47 am »
i know you can work it out all mathimatically and all that but just to see what people are getting on average..how much are people getting to say a tenners worth of petrol at the minute?  regardless of state of tune and just everyday driving with a bit of boost here and there....i get with quite a bit of boost around 75 miles to a tenners worth..

The old 'how much does a tenner get you' doesn't really work as petrol prices are all over the shop.

Last time I drove my G I was driving from Coventry to London ~100 miles. I used 3/4 of a tank but that with muchos boostos. My map is pants so not very helpful.

Just to reminisce on the old days and the GT boys can back me up. Giving it death in the GT used to see easily 100 to a tenner when petrol was over a £1

I get approx 125 miles to £10
Costs me about £35 to fill her up, give or take a pound and if I use BP or Gulf in Tewkesbury I get about 325-350 miles ;D

those figures are mad! when i first started driving 10 years ago in my 1.3spi i was lucky to get 350 miles to a tank

what kind of driving do you do?

My G is standard and i do most trips of about 20miles, and i get about 250 miles to a tank 35litres, about 32mpg

im not saying your wrong, im just suprised

Running 140bhp i get around a 100 miles to a tenner depends on the lead foot.

To a full tank i can get 320 miles

I put £20 in every week and do around 190 before i need to put more in an i would say that is quite good considering i beat it a little.

If i just drive the car for fun then a tenner really does not go far maybe 60 miles.

my 50+ mpg passat tdi wont even do 125 miles to a tenner, I find it hard to believe people are getting this from a G40 no matter how light footed you are with it.

yeah i cant agree with these claims, even wozza yours is on the high side?

ive owned numerous G40s and never had consumption like these claims...

I think people round up far too much to put their own mind at rest that they arent spending too much on petrol

I drove to work an back every day in to London doing 80 miles a day an every week without fail i got between 310 and 320 that is 52 weeks of driving an not once did it deviate majorily maybe down to 290 once or twice. I am very very conciuos of my fuel as i have ran out a few times so i watch it like a hawk.

This is my experience, im not commenting on anyone else here just my car an my driving thats what she does.

I even spent in the region of £3500 on fuel last year, i only noticed when the tesco clubcard points came through an saw how much i had earnt considering i do not shop at tesco just go for fuel.

310 miles to a full tank (i.e. 9 gallons) is 34.4 mpg so yeah that's perfectly feasible.  100 miles to a tenner is 40 mpg based on a price of 88p per litre.  Not impossible but you'd really have to be driving like a granny with a tail-wind to get that from a G40 in my opinion.

When the fuel was really high Dan i managed to get £43 at the most a couple of times, generally around £39-£41. Once it dropped down it is about £37 now.

I must say though this was mainly all on the M4 an i never really went in to the boost at all, very conservative driving.
