Tyre choices

Toyo dont make the T1R's anymore, sometimes pop up on ebay of old stock, but camskill dont sell them and nor do mytyres.

A few people rate A539's and R888's, any others worth looking into?

What size are you looking for ?
I'm going to buy next year Yokohama Advan A048 (road semi-slick) mostly because they offer 175/50/13 tires.

Yeah saw them as well. Think i saw them for £130 a tyre and the R888 are £30 cheaper.

Useful to know; as continental have discontinued the sport contact in this size.

Have run the yoko's; nice tyre, but soft. Conti's were much harder wearing!

Well I had the chance to test a couple of brands and even though Toyo was the brand I liked the most I know that there are other brands equally good! So I would suggest Yokohama and Kumho as alternatives by experience. Goodyear Eagle F1s where quite good but I don't know if they are still available! On the other hand Nokians are cheap and they are not terrible!

Shame that, conti's in that size were my favourite on the Polo.

I used the kuhmo v70a on medium compound for my road trip, got them of mark crox. could not fault them! the levels of grip were insane!! even on the road! i think they are mainly aimed at wet, and it shows! was smashing round some of the insane tight hairpins in the downpours without the slightest hint of understeer! gave me so much confidence in the car. and they still lasted for 6000 miles and that was after mark hammered them round a track in his mk2
9 out of 10 from me, only loose points because they are £100 a corner! but well worth it, and when i get the money i will be straight back on them

you can't go wrong with A539 if you can still get them in the size you want. 

A048 are great for a track day. terrible for daily use, damn scary in very wet conditions when there's standing water, they'll aquaplane like crazy.  Plus they are expensive and you'll get about 4000 miles out of them so seems a waste to burn all that money on the road.

I'm also looking at some new tyres, Im currently using yoko a539's and it's just spins them up too easily. 
Has anyone tried nangkang ns-2r? There aren't many manufacturers that do 175/50/13 :-(
I want something that's going to be also good in the wet and not wear out in just a few thousand miles. I don't mind spending the money if there good!! :-)

I'm running a539's and I love them however on 13's they spin easily but grip well in the dry and aren't too bad in the wet.

Had them nangkang's on my golf g60. Yeah they spin badly!

haha yeah. In the wet i wouldn't even attempt to floor it. They were bad enough in the dry and the tyre's were really soft. The G60 was running about 220bhp, so might be different for a polo but then again, 200kgs lighter and less tyre surface area.

I personally see nangkangs as a budget tyre, i personally wont ever use them. You might find they are ok.

If you can get hold of the proxies t1r's then i'd go for them. Best tyre i've used, but them A539's are ment to be good but they are a little more ££ then the toyo's.
