Hi guys,

am new to the scene but have wanted a g40 for a couple of years and i have finally got the cash to buy one!
Am going to look at one next week that is for sale in the classified section on here and i am just after some tips on what to look for to make sure i dont buy a scraper and wreck my G40 dream! My mechanical understanding is pretty sound but any advice would be much appreciated.

cheers
Grant.

Hi Grant, welcome.

Apart from the usual things (cambelt etc.) find out when the charger was last serviced and check for cracked chassis legs.
I suppose there are other things that apply to polos in general. Leaky fuel tank is one that's caught me out.

Good luck with the purchase.

yes make sure the charger has a recentish service.

don't think you'll find a proper wreck, nearly all of them are looked after well.

hi mate nice to see that you want a G40 ;D
as all the other guys on here have said that check the spuercharger, chassis legs, any oil leaks
my one had a oil leak from a breather on the back of the block which can be a pain to do sometimes
check for service history and all respites to prove work has been done.

other than that good luck and hope you enjoy your G40 when you get it
