Problem with my dials

Bit of a strange one. Was heading home early hour of this morning and decided to find out what the g could do , but after a short (less than 2mile) blast down the bypass the temperature and fuel gauge both dropped dramatically temperature went from 90 - 70 and stayed at 70 even after parking up and leaving to idle for a while, the petrol gauge went from 4 gallon down to 1 (I'd be extremely concerned if I used that much fuel over less than 2 mile of pedal to the metal) any ideas would be much appreciated oh and I'm still using my 1.0 clocks thanks
