relocating battery
« on: February 24, 2013, 11:11:50 am »
im relocating my battery, i dunno how many people have done it but i just want to know how you do it? eg dose anyone use a inline fuse by the battery just incase u get a dead short? and how do u connect the battery cables to the original loom, do i rewire the hole loom with new longer wires or do i put something like a brake out box in there and just connect the old loom to the battery loom that way?

many thanks

it's up to you really how to connect it up but you absolutely must put a fuse in the live cable as close to the battery as possible.  I would probably use a breakout box of some sort and try to keep the original loom as untouched as possible.  If you can get something (probably from vehiclewiringproducts or similar) which the old battery terminals will clamp onto then even better as the loom can stay untouched.

Just run a live cable to the battery and connect the negative to the car body near the battery making sure it has a good connection or you'll get all sorts of problems.
