Looking for whole new rear brakes. Is a 6n setup the same? Struggling to find backing plates

I used 200mm passat ones on mine, needs the full setup to match.  I think from a mid-80s passat, not sure those parts will be available though.

I highly suspect 6n ones will be a direct fit, even on fairly recent polos they look identical!

I have a Passat setup on there at the moment, but I think they're 230mm and the car likes to swap ends on harsh braking. Bigger is not always better.

yeah I havwe a bias valve inside the car too so I can set & adjust it,  normally have it set to not send much to the back at all

6n is same bolt holes ...what do you want a whole swap ?

later cars have non taper bearings ...so just grab the whole lot and bolt on  , mk3 golfs have a bigger drum that again swaps over as a whole lump

I'd like to go back to the original size, the 230mm Passat onesare huge, way over powered, and weigh loads. I've got the Vauxhall caliper setup on the front so I don't need extra braking really. I've been looking and it seems that the mk2f backing plates are hard to find, but I can find new 6n ones. If 6n ones work I'll put them off a car I have and get everything else new. I'd just prefer to get new everything.

same as mk2...try the face book pages for mk 2/2f  will get some used ones on there

Trying to clear up a small headache. I took the entire drums off my 6n, got all new shoes, mounting kit and drums. The question now is, the brake cylinder. Should be aluminium and 17.5mm bore diameter, this is where im getting confused. The chassis I have has the regulator removed, so without getting a new one and everything that goes with it,  i want less pressure on the rears. From looking through way too many parts shops, there appears to be 3 choices, 15.5mm, 17.5mm (standard) or 19mm cylinder bore diameters.
This is where the internet gets contradictory, for the same force at the pedal, which would give me less pressure at the rear?

smaller ones for non reg brakes
