My block is in there at the moment awaiting being re bored

i obtained my engine bearings from "I B ENGINEERING" in nuneaton. they sourced the KS oem spec bearings for me and the whole lot came to £96! that was for crank and rod bearings. i got little end rod bushes from VW themselves which came to just below £40.
i didnt have to do a thing either- took them the block and the cranks etc etc and they sorted out all the correct sizes and all that. very good service indeed!

I got a set of Glyco's from barftek, but they were expensive!

RS engine supplies are your best bet, Nick can get KS listed as "heavy duty" spec for about £30 iirc. Really helpful guy as well!

This is interesting. Do all of the above companies have websites or are they mostly machine shops?

Also, a quick question, does anyone know if an ABD crank fits a 1W block? If so, which main bearings would be used, 1W or ABD?

Not so sure the abd gives the same stroke as a 1w. Think the abd is a 1391cc and 1w is a 1398 iirc. Crank on the 1w is harder than the abd too.

xandyx

www.mohlis.de or german ebay for glyco or ks bearings!

they pop arround on ebay very often.
