someone proper random comes over to you and says....'is that a proper G40?'

I stopped in a car park and the most random, homeless looking, old age man, creeps over....ginger beard, long wirey hair and some kind of skin condition like excema all over, very few teeth etc..wasn't from round my way as he had more of a southern accent, Buxton he said he was from.. anyway he was canny as fuck!  canny meaning 'cool, sound, friendly'

Knew exactly what a G40 was..showed him the engine and he was buzzing..turned out he used to make custom exhausts for cossies back in the 90's ha ha

Moral to this story..don't judge someone as a tramp until you've spoken to them :D  God I wish I'd got a picture! He was a scruffier looking bloke than Frank Gallagher!

samg40

I'm sorry Dan but the thing that is making me piss myself is the fact that you think Buxton is in the south! Put it this way, you drove through Buxton on the G40 rally.

Max

Anything above the M25 is up north in my eyes LOL

lance

anything below cumbria is south to me.

wasn't from round my way as he had more of a southern accent  :D :D :D

tdh-syorks

anything south of sheffield to me, buxton is more west than south. did the bloke look like hamish out of braveheart?  :)

supercharged spaniel

anywhere past teeside is south..basically anywhere past scotch corner is 'down south' to me ha ha...people in manchester call themselves 'northeners'!  what a joke!

yea chris moyles always calls himself northern and he's from leeds!

supercharged spaniel

Leeds?... northern? Raging southerner!!! Lol

Andy

Does the north/south divide not kick in at The Midlands - or are they wrongly named?! ;)

Varley

When I lived in Newcastle I found everyone in England was either a Geordie, a Mackam or a 'Southerner', now I live in Southampton and it's much the same, you're either from Southampton, Portsmouth, or 'the north'...

As a born and bred midlander I've never been particularly keen on my regional designation in either extreme...

IMO Sheffield is in the north (where they hate the south) and Milton keynes is in the south (where they mock the north).

This leaves a precious few degrees of latitude for those of us who choose to mock and dislike both as they see fit and as social conditions dictate.

lol!
