are they still available from vw?  if not anyone tried those ones over on g laderseite?  they seem ok but are more expensive than vag by the looks of it.

I dont think that they are available from VW anymore (not 100%). Either way quite a few people go for the G-laderseite ones and ive heard no bad about them yet!

As far as I'm aware they are about £70 each from vw. Its the steering arms that are obsolete.

I used a set of tcas from ebay (vw surprisingly) fro £20 then polybushed them for about £50.  £70 all in!

thats not bad that like. will hve a think about it..im gonna be spending some money a lot of things seem to be cropping up at once.

I think you can get them from VW, i got mine about september time and they had 5 pairs in stock at VW UK but once these go thats it!

I got a spare pair at the unit for a rainy day!

They are still available, I have a set on the way this week out of the UK stock so there are less than 5 left now. Although when they run out will they not still be available from Germany?  ???

My local VW dealer said there was stock there as VW Ireland have none in stock it would have taken a week ex Germany.

They were around £ 75ish each

When VW in Germany are getting low, they start to preserve stocks by insisting on a genuine G40 chassis number placed with the order. That was certainly the case when i got one of the last sets of steering arms about 18 months ago.

seems an odd thing to do, I wouldn't have thought VW gave a toss who buys them as long as they pay the bill.

I think it stems from things like Golf Rallye grilles and headlights flying out of the warehouse, and OE nutters complaining there aint non left for them to repair bumps.

VW motorsport certainly do it if you want G60 limited parts, albeit for the 71 mk2's they built.

Same experience for me. Reason I was given is VW trying to stop bastards buying up hard to get parts then screwing folk when VW run out. If that's so then I'm up for it. It's VW's new caring face maybe. lol

Recently priced them at VW at £75 each all in.

If your track control ball joints are good then replace with Superflex
Poly bushes.

I`ve seen track control arms go for £12 each or less on ebay and a full superflex
Poly bush setup is £50.90p wich includes the G40 specific inner rose joint bush
Wich should be an improvement on the stock arms.

See Pics below and website link.

the centre bush isn't a rose joint there, but is on g40 TCAs, hence why people prefer them.

Saying that I've used superflex on my white g and i do like them. but then again i'm an old man who only uses his car on the road and the roads are sh1t around here.  So some people might prefer harder bushes.

that's nice of them!  Maybe they do care about older cars after all.

Yeah the inner joints on g40 arms have spherical bearings in them rather than rubber bushes, hence the cost of them.  I've only ever had normal TCAs with poly bushes on my car though.  Although I'm currently looking into getting some adjustable length bottom arms with spherical bearings possibly in place of both bushes (or maybe just nylon bushes in the outer ones).

To be fair i new it wasn`t exactly the same but thought it a good bet on standard arms.

Anybody got a G40 arm with Knacked ball joint so i can investegate them.

If it can be pressed out that is.

We have some solid red Polyurethane bar from  www.directplastics.co.uk

and thought it worth a bash at machining some bushes as we have a good Harrison T300 lathe.

Fred.

depends on the hardness of the poly really..
