engine temp and fan kicking in
« on: June 07, 2013, 06:08:04 pm »
Hi, again
have fitted a new alloy rad to my g, all bled up properly etc
usually the car sat at around 85 to 90 degrees and the fan would never come on
now ive fitted the alloy one, the coolant temp is pretty much the same as before but everytime i stop the fan is on. Even after driving at 50 ish down the motorway
i noticed the fan switch has 85 degrees stamped on it
anyone any ideas?

Need higher temperature rated fan switch? Can you swap the switch from your old rad?

Sorry for the late reply, yeah i think it may have just been silted up and i cleaned it all
it isnt a new switch its the old one, think it may just bee too low. The fan is on all the time now, even in below zero when its snowing lol

The in car gauge is always on 90 degrees, but the fan is constantly running
should i leave it? Is it a problem the fan is constantly running? Or will it be fine as the in car gauge is bang on 90 degrees?

what temp are g40 rad switches usually? Whats the ideal operating temprature for a g40?

Sounds like the fan switch is knackered - either that, or you've got a short in the wiring.
