1991 Polo G40 Saloon Conversion

1991 (J plate) mk3 Polo Classic Saloon with G40 engine conversion.

Shell/chassis details:
  • Capri green (I'm told it's called)montana green (I think, someone will no doubt correct me!)
  • very low mileage, approx 70,000 miles from new with many old MOT certificates to prove
  • excellent bodywork condition with no rust.  Original paint, never been resprayed
  • brand new 40mm AP suspension kit fitted (shocks & springs).  This has done less than 1000 miles on the car
  • PPP Stage 2 subframe (excellent compromise between handling/rigidity and road manners!)
  • “G-Laderseite” nylon anti-roll bar blocks
  • 14” steel wheels
  • brand new Yokohama A539 185/50/14 tyres all round - less than 200 miles on these tyres
  • dark mk3 Polo GT front seats (pretty good match to the dark rear bench)
  • mk2 Coupe S steering wheel
  • CAT2 immobiliser fitted last year with certification for insurance
  • it has a Pioneer CD/radio fitted

Engine details:
  • also extremely low mileage at 63,500 miles, the dash clocks match the engine
  • 65mm pulley
  • Jabbasport chip
  • GT inlet manifold
  • Supercharger full rebuild by Pete Mirfin autumn 2010 (only two or three thousand miles done since)
  • est ~135-140 bhp
  • no problems with the engine at all, no oil leaks etc... as you’d expect from such a low mileage engine

General:
  • MOT till 27th July 2013 (mileage on last MOT 63,197)
  • tax till 31st August 2013

I’m only selling this as I need my garage back to put my other G40 in to get it back on track.  Plus as you can see from the milage it’s done since the last MOT, I’m hardly using it.

Lots of pictures, these were all taken today:

The next picture shows the MOT certificates from just after and then just before the engine conversion, so you can see that the shell has about 4000 more miles on it than the engine.

Very good car and I will miss it!

£2300ono.  The car is located in Heywood, Lancashire.

Please send me an email or private message on here and I’ll give you my phone number.  paul@polog40.co.uk

Ah OK, colour edited!  I thought that was what it was to start with but when I asked someone else they didn't seem to think so.

I've been asked for some larger pictures and some close ups of typical areas where these cars start to rust (and this one has rust in none of them).

I've uploaded them because there's a lot of pictures.

The large ones are here (41MB file!):

The close ups are here:

http://derby.polog40.co.uk/photos/g40saloon_closeups.zip

The close up with a 2p coin in it, shows a couple of small stone chips on the roof.  The picture of the wing shows where a previous owner has touched up a scratch.  These are the only marks on the car.

The last two close ups show pictures of the underside of the battery tray taken from inside the car pointing up above the driver's pedals.

Who???
me....

broke down on way home...... polo adventure started with a bit of drama.

new clutch cable last week & an AFH clutch and she's as good as.

I've got a load of service parts on order along with a few bits 'just in case' but nothing major needs doing.

need to get hold of another ignition barrel in a mount (with a good bearing) and a pair of keys, if anyone reads this has one!

Rae.

This is the 4th G40 I've had. They're fairly cheap to fix, especially compared to the Audi S3 I just parted with... !
