« on: April 19, 2013, 07:33:04 pm »
Basically i'm having problems with my G , and have been told to get it hooked up to an OBD reader i know i need a connector because of the age of the car but i have been offered one of these http://www.sealey.co.uk/PLPageBuilder.asp?gotonode=ViewProduct&method=mViewProduct&productid=15859

I noticed it said from 96 onwards which i seem to find on all the ones i'm looking at

Just wondered what everyone else it using as i'm desperate for my G to run properly

Thanks

Get a copy of vagcom from Ross-tech

Buy a lead and then get this 2 x 2 dongle
http://store.ross-tech.com/shop/AF2X2.html

The leads are peanuts on Ebay.

The G40 Digifant ECU doesn't support OBD, it does support very basic K-line diagnostics though through the interface Tristan just described.

I've got an OBD scanner which I, um, acquired through work. The only information it displays through the Polo diagnostic port is voltage, which is pretty useless tbh. You'll need VAGCOM to do anything vaguely interesting.

I've got a program called vw tool I think it is. Gives much better results than vag com on the polo. Can't remember where I got it from but a google should find it I'd have thought.
