Ignition timing question
« on: March 11, 2013, 06:53:42 pm »
I've started to burn a few eproms and check the behavior of the PY unit.
I burned a chip and i added ignition timing (about 5-6 degrees) @ cruise loads, without adding fuel.
The afr was still 14.7-15 at part throttle, but i noticed that my fuel consumption has increased.
My question is why it has increased and afr stayed at the same numbers?

How are you measuring fuel consumption, average over a tank?

Have you had a timing light on it to be sure you've actually added advance?

@Yoof: Yes

@Andy: I haven't checked it, i'll do it, but it feels much better at cruise speeds

Why don't you try? Increase ignition step by step, always keep afr at safe numbers, go for a ride or get your gt to a dyno. You will understand a lot of things by seeing the dyno graph
