Hi all,

Here for sale is a fibre glass bonnet which is surplus to requirements. It is a Phil J, single skin one which is unused and exactly as i recieved it. It has sat carefully placed in my garage for a few months!

I would prefer collection BUT am happy to pack it as well as i possibly can and for the buyer to arrange a courier to collect from my work (this shall be at the buyers cost and if damage occurs i shall not be responsible for it!).

After £100 - No offers

has this got the vents in it are they just covered up with tape ??

hayesey

I'd also like to know if the vents just covered in tape, looks a bit messy there from that picture.

Where abouts are you?

jez1272gt

I am located in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

The vents must have been taped over in a fairly crude manor prior to the mouldings been taken, hence this is actually the current finish of the bonnet as far as i am aware. I'll be honest I havent looked at this bonnet a great deal (as i already had one and this one turned up in the post rather than the boot i ordered, so i made a deal rather than sending it back) so i'm not sure how much work it will be to work the vents into it or alternately delete them completely.

You got a closer pic of the area of the vents? So does this have vents and washer jet holes?

If so m travelling near you soon so i would like to buy this off you if it has above.

I'll have a better look at it tomorrow morning and get a couple more pics up this weekend...

hello, i have been very busy but popped up to the garage this evening and had a better look at the bonnet.

It is a single skin bonnet as first advertised. Almost all of them come in this fashion as far as i am aware. It has no vents, the vents have been taped over prior to the mould being taken. As you can see from the photo these vents look scruffy but wouldnt take much to rub back, skim of filler and another rub back to smooth them over. Again i dont think i have seen any light weight bonnets (carbon included) with these vents in. There are no brackets for hinges. There are no holes for washer jets. Make of it what you will, it is a very light weight single skin fibreglass bonnet... if you are modifying your car to this standard then i would imagine most people would get over these minor issues fairly easily. I have 2 sets of brand new Aerocatch flush fit bonnet bins that are also surplus to requirements if you need some.

Unfortunately the only photo of the inside is a poor one but for reference anyway...

My Mk3 bonnet (GRP with Carbon Skin) is lighter than my Mk1 bonnet from this chap  ;D

jez1272gt

ah carbon goodness... there cant be much in it though, if any, this thing is seriously light!!

Yoof

Aye, although I think on my Mk1 bonnet he used metal strips- maybe makes it heavier?

For £100 it's a bargin!

dub-disaster

how much for this plus the aero catches ??

Mine had no metal in it , its was pretty much a single skin of GRP with no reinforcements and extremely flexible when you put heat into it. I found this out while doing XXX mph and the middle started bowing up by about a foot ! So I put an extra fastener in the middle to hold it down

But to be fair it was very very light and worth the ££ if you want to get rid of excess weight.

Who ever buys this will be pleased with the results

I'll do the bonnet and one pair of catches for £130. If you want both pairs of catches then £155. The cheapest i could find these hinges was £37.50 (per pair) delivered, which is what i paid for them...  :)
