Throttle body
« on: April 09, 2012, 07:26:13 pm »
I've just been looking at the throttle body on my girlfriends engine as I was going to put the 6 psi boost switch in there so I didnt have to mess about with it when doing the conversion. I've seen about 5 throttle bodies in my time including a 51mm one but I've never seen one like this. Is it an early tb or a modified one or just a different one.

Cheers!

Oh wow, I'm a throttle body nerd and I've never seen one like this, I can't say its been modified it looks very OEM. I'd say it would either be a very late PY engine or a Mk2 GT G40. Very, very nice (for a throttle body nerd anyway) :)

Well, I wont be using this now for my conversion ill just have to do it to the one thats on my engine currently. Problem is with this one is that the off throttle switch currently isnt being compressed when the throttle isnt being applied. Hopefully messing about with it should get to the bottom of it!

I've been scouring German google but I can't find anything like it - remarkable. There is a throttle stop just below the boost return valve on the front side (side you look at when you open the bonnet) on the body, try slacken that off. it looks like the idle switch isn't adjustable like a 'normal' throttle body where you can move were it turns on in the throttle rotation.

Is it de-wedged? do you have any photos of the butterfly? It could be an ex-cup throttle body.

That looks like a mk2 G40 throttle body to me, they have a different part number than the mk3 version. Can you see it stamped?

Unfortunately no stamps dude, had a very close inspection and it just had single integers on the separate housings
