White G40 project ** SOLD **
« on: March 21, 2012, 10:22:45 pm »
Previously marked as sold, but the sale fell through.

Mileage: 145232
MOT: Dec 2nd 2011
Tax:Aug 2012
Location: Falkirk, Scotland,
Description:

I'm reluctantly selling my G40 project as I've run out of time and money to spend on it and I've bought a VR instead.  All that's needed to get it back on the road is a bottom end changeover.  I have a spare bottom end (the original one) which is included in the sale, which will need to have the piston rings replaced before being refitted.

This is an ideal project for someone with a bit of time and money to spend.  I have already replaced the spark plugs (£15 each), the ht leads for double silicon ones, the dizzy cap, rotor arm and ignition coil.  The head has also been skimmed.

Anyone that know's G40's will appreciate just how quick they are, I would love to keep this to finish at a later date, but just don't have the means.  I would like it to go to someone who can carry on the work I've already put in.

LOADS of history with the car.  Previous owners have not been shy to spend money on it, which is why it's still in such great condition after twenty years.

See my thread here: http://www.polog40.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,6693.0.html

Bad bits (surface only as far as I can tell)

Rest of the bodywork is fine apart from the small patch on the boot next to the left light cluster you can see in the pic above and some really tiny patches of rust from stone chips, age, etc..

If you have any further questions, please PM me.  Many thanks

Currently listed on ebay, so if you're interested in the car, please place your bid - click here

Well, been let down by a potential buyer YET AGAIN, so it's going back up on ebay tomorrow.  Just thought I'd post up on the forums first in case anyone's interested.  Looking for £800 ono.

New owner picked her up tonight

He has another G40 engine he's going to fit in it and make it a track car.

Interesting way to lash a car down - over the roof and around the wing mirror.

Bye bye paint!

Given only 2 straps, I'd go round the rear axle, and around the front chassis leg (OSF) that seems quite dangerous, and really not very safe!

He's respraying it anyway and he only had one strap.  I suggested the cross hitch over both front wheels, but he was having none of it.  Anyway, just happy its gone to someone who's gonna resurrect her and get her back on the road.  :)

Be gentle I'm a newbie!

I am the new happy owner. Thanks to Boris for a smooth transaction. Don't be to hard on my brother in law - it was his trailer and his car that towed it! We got back safe and sound and work on the engine transplant should start in next couple of weeks. I'll keep you posted.
I know it's grredy, but we have 4 mk2F Coupes now (2 GT's and 2 G40's) - aren't they great!

Nice one Peter, does this mean we're going to get a build thread.  Look forward to seeing the progress.  :)

Fair play! Last thing I'd want is a G40 in the boot of my new X3 though  :D

Nice trailer, I have dreams of inbuilt ramps...
