Hi,

for sale is a set of casings I bought a few years ago. They are complete casings but come with no internal scroll. As mentioned they are heavily ported, mre so than an R1 or full blend.

BUT

I attempted to fit a scroll from another charger a few years back and had no luck due to the internal scroll coming in contact with the casings. The contact was a small section, and a bit of time and grindind will make it work, but at the time I was desperate to get the car on the road I just got another charger.

Basically you may find there were different batches of G-laders that were different, the scrolls may not be interchangeable, but I simply dont know exactly my scroll would not work in that casing. Perhaps someone will be able to find a scroll that fits, or modify one, I'm sure it can be done as the charger has run at come point, witness marks from use are visible.

I will get some pics, I would like £190, the cost of a rebuild kit for my standard Lader...

thanks

having had this problem with one lader

i'd suggest you measure carefully inside.  Below is a photo of two lader casings (both pulley side).  The top one one has had the scroll bearings fail and some impact on the charger walls, splaying out. the other, bottom one, is fine.  To the naked eye the first looks fine, but with a scroll in would not turn.  Took me ages to work this one out as its only 2mm, enough to cause a problem.  I replaced that side casing and the lader worked ok.

I've mixed/matched a number of g40 chargers (not the rare mk3gtg40 chargers) and never come across any incompatibility of parts - which can be the case with g60 chargers.

Hope this may help.  Feel free to pm me some measurements etc and i can compare if you dont have another lader apart.

Thanks Pete,

the charger/scroll contact does actually occour at the outlet end of the scroll, it is as if the scroll runs (rotates) 3-5mm futher forward (towards the outlet) than the markings on the casings.

Hope that makes sense.

To be honest I dont have the casings with me, they are with a pal, so will prob pick them up next week and post pics and measurements.

Thanks

EDIT: What is the mk3 GTG40 one? I know of the 45, the single inlet mk2 G40 charger, but mine 'looks' like a normal G40, twin inlet ect. External markings are G40.

EDIT #2: I refer you to my original enquiry - http://www.polog40.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1399.0.html Perhaps being 'at the time' I would be clearer on the issue. Thanks

Did MailMan G40 not come up with anything? Might be worth asking on a German forum or maxrpm (I think someone from there frequents here) in case it's some sort of R&D part. I work testing electric power steering and see all sorts of weird and wonderful ideas applied, some go in the skip, some go on a shelf then get chucked out ten years later..... perhaps what you have is a G-lader equivalent.
