It's been ages since I posted any decent pics of my car. Since it dropped out of daily service last year it's not been used so much, which means I've been less fussy about keeping it clean. Especially inside, which used to get cleaned more often than the outside. I don't really like it to get dirty, but if I've got a spare evening and it's light I'll usually take it for a drive around Rutland Water rather than get my sponge out and clean it.

But today, I had a spare afternoon, and rediscovered the shiny grey paint under the grot.

I pass this location every day on the way home, it's a disused Little Chef restaurant on the side of the A1. I've always thought it would be a cool place to shoot the Polo, so with the light disappearing quickly I drove down, parked up and got snapping.  :-D

cars looking better than ever Alex.  Very clean.

Alex

Thanks! :D

It could do with a machine polish to freshen it up really, but it's nice to see it looking clean again!

Alex

A gem of a location this, proper urban decay!

Does look good Alex. Looks much better on the speedlines too, dont you think they are more nimble on lighter wheels and tyres too!

I must say I'm a bit suprised you are keeping it after experiencing some of the cars you must have driven by now. Shows how good as a package the little G must be!

Alex

Yeah to be honest there's not much I've driven which would actually tempt me away. In fact, of all the cars I've driven I reckon only the Caterham Roadsport, Honda S2000 and Alfa Brera S gave me the same sort of grin factor. That's quite compliment to those cars too - I've driven some powerful cars. They've all got a certain something though.

Once this is running a subframe/wishbone conversion, new suspension and a LSD it'll be a fantastic little package. Without meaning to sound sentimental it's kind of like an old friend, this car. I was 16 when I bought it, and it's been this constant thing in my life in a period where everything else has changed around me. I've had a lot of happy hours behind the wheel, and I'd be truly gutted if it ever came to selling up.

I think I'm going to flog the 15s though, I could do with the cash.

samg40

Yeah I think the 15's have had there day.
