Can anyone tell what the oil pressure should be if I hook a gauge up to my engine as the oil light is still flashing. Thanks, liam

hayesey

anywhere between about 20psi and 100psi depending on oil temp and RPM

hayesey

just worry if it ever goes much less than 20psi, certainly should stay higher than 10psi.  This is with the gauge reading from the oil pressure switch hole(s) in the head.

Cheers for that, the oil pressure is just over 40 psi on tick over so am happy about that,

Must be a dodgy wire then cos I know the sensors are good, I now know the oil pressure is good,

Does anyone know where the blue and yellow oil switch wires lead to, e.c.u?

hayesey

no they just go into the back of the clocks in the dash, the oil pressure warning system is just all in the clocks.  Haynes tells you which pins on the connector on the clocks they are, then just check their resistance using a multimeter, should be as near as damn it to zero.

how do you know the sensors are good?  Assume you've tried them in another polo?

Failing those or the wiring can only think it's the clocks themselves.  Have you put the gauge on both outlets on the head?  One could be blocked.

ok cheers for that,

yeah ive got a set of oil pressure sensors from a car i know was good and a new set from g.s.f, it don`t matter what set are on the car it`s still the same.

i did`nt check both outlet`s today i didn`t think about blockages at the time,

i`ll go over it with a multi metre and see what i can find,

thankyou.
