Mines the oem passat drain pipe with the bottom section cut and re welded to suit the length, then a flat plate welded on the sump with two dome nuts for the flange to bolt too. The oem pipe is realy good solid either end with a flexi in the middle and a flat two bolt flange either end.

I used some 16mm ID (from memory, same as the OEM ID anyway) tube that was already bent to the correct shape, cleaned it up and brazed it into the sump. The turbo-end was a cut-down OEM pipe joined with some rubber oil hose 2mm ID too small to ensure a tight fit clamped with jubilees. No leaks :)
The sump-end of the tube was a piece of old deck-chair :D

Will get some photos when I next go to the garage, although you have to excuse the instant gasket over one of the bolt heads on the flange as me being the monkey I am overtightened the bolt and striped the thread  :(

I would prefer a fitting welded on aswell, when I change turbo I will go this way but I do like using the oem line as it's mainly solid and good quality and isn't too pricey to buy or replace.

Sorry to hijack, but where do you take the turbo oil feed from?

Back of the head, where the oil pressure sensors are. T-piece into one of them. M10x1mm thread.

Lovely, thank you very much.

Why do you need to tap/attach a return to the sump? Why cant you use the normal oil feeds/returns on the g40 block?
