I use yokohama a048 in 185/55/14.

this is how they looked at Blyton Park last saturday:

What wheel sizes would you recommend and wheel manufacture? 14'' or 15''?

Jezza-7

Depends what brake mods you going to do? If your looking to get wilwoods or something then you will need 15's. I think hayesey runs 15's with wilwood midlites.

er well 14" generally work best with 185/55/14 ;)

My wheels are Ronals which came on a Seat Arosa of some sort I think, I just found them on ebay years ago and got them powder coated black as they came white.  I don't really think wheel choice comes down to that much more than personal preference.  You can start getting silly and choosing full on motorsport wheels that are lighter and stuff but it's a polo not a le-mans 24hr racer!

I only use those wheels on track, on the road I have a set of 15" Compomotive MOs with 195/45/15 yokohama s-drive tyres.  I have used these on track too when it's wet.

yes I have 256mm discs with wilwood midilites, I have to run wheel spacers with either my 14" ronals or 15" compos.  otherwise the caliper fouls the centre of the wheel as the calipers are pretty big

Brake wise im using vwll calipers with aftermarket pads and discs.

So 14s it is then, I know its only a Polo but I would'nt mind embarrassing better stuff.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought 185/55/R14 was considered too large, and 185/50/R14 used instead? Bold question, but you're definitely using /55 Hayesey?
Just wondering, as I've always wanted to give 185/55/R14 a go as there's a lot of choice for tyres and they're a very close radius to the 165/60/R14's I'm currently using.

In Demon tweeks list i saw they had Toyo R888 165/50-15, can that be an option for a polo with 15" wheels?

they are basically the same rolling radius as 195/45/15.  You will need arch work to get them to fit!  My combination of suspension that is too hard for the road and modified arches works ok though.  They dont do a048s in 185/50/14

Whats the width of your alloy?
At the moment I got 7", but I guess it will be to much stretch for that type of tyre!

Jezza-7

I would say that would be too much stretch.

Ah cool, thanks for the info. I'll stick with me 165/60's :)
