actuator rod length....
« on: August 02, 2011, 10:25:51 pm »
Anyone know the length of a K03 actuator rod? Currently using a K03s item and been told its abit too short so need to order one.

Cheers ;)

 ???

Erm....That sounds a bit bonkers to me. So far as I know Forge don't make one for a 'K03s' (which technically doesn't exist)...
Is it definitely meant for an A4/Passat?

Actuator for a Passat/Audi longitudinally mounted K03 is what you want. Am wondering whether the one you've got is from a transverse engined application like a Golf, as Forge list different parts.

Maybe Andy.
All i know is what ive been told and that is i need to wind the rod out abit as its most likely holding the wastegate open for slightly too long reducing power but as its the wrong rod i cant!

What you've been told is guff. Shorter rod (i.e. more pre-tension in the actuator spring) means more boostings.

And you'll be surprised at the difference it will make! I was struggling to make decent boost until Andy advised me how to adjust the rod.

Recently I've tightened my rod ;) a few turns more, and although max boost is the same at ~10psi it now boosts better (probably earlier) and drives nicer than it did before. A few more turns will up the boost to 15psi, but it's great to drive at 10psi - good, smooth power throughout the range.
