stock g40 bbs are 13x5.5 not 6.. 6s were an optional extra on mk1 golfs i believe and have a rounded lip (et 33 too, stock is e38) they do need longer bolts... not sure of exact spec

Go to Halfords if you want a set, they do them by the alloys and locking wheel nuts. I got a set of long bolts for a set of alloys I bought but took off after a day, lol.

they're about £20 or so and come with spigot rings too, I think the set I got were for a vauxhall or something? Take an original bolt with you to make sure you get the correct thread pitch in case some chimp tries selling you the wrong one! Or a local alloy wheel specialist/ motor factors will do them. or ebay.

Also, make sure they have the correct shoulder on the bolt, some are domed, some aren't, I forget which is for alloys and which is for steels.

it's not as simple as that.  Some alloys have a radius/ball seat, some have a 60deg taper.  Just need to look at them.

It's often the case that factory fit wheels will be radius and aftermarket, tapered.

Standard G40 13x5.5 BBS RA's use the same wheel bolts as Mk3 Polo steel wheels (as do Golf 16V 15x6 BBS RA's). The 14x6 accessory BBS RA's have a 5mm thicker mounting face than standard G40 alloys so you need longer bolts. Your 13x6 BBS are probably the same. When getting longer bolts be careful with the ones at the back. If they are too long they will poke through into the brake drum and trash the brakes. Get a standard Polo wheel bolt, take a brake drum off, fit it to the BBS and measure how short the bolt is.
