So i was cleaning my car and i don't know how ive not come across it before but i found a random chip in my ash tray.

My G has been chipped as its had a 65mm pulley so could this be the original chip?!

Any help would be appreciated....pic below

Cheers iain  ???

don't think that's the standard chip, they normally have a silver sticker on them.  It's definitely an EPROM chip of the right size though, it'll probably have some other random map on it.

hmm im very confused man! would you know how i would be able to find out where its from?!!? or is it totally random that it has no purpose now lol

hayesey

fairly impossible really, the physical thing is just an EPROM chip, it's the software loaded onto it that you'd need to look at.  Buying an EPROM reader to do that is insane given the value of a chip like this and even then the hex code you get off it probably isn't going to mean a right lot to you.  You could send it off to someone like PPP and they may be able to tell you what map is on it (it could just be a home made one though) but I can't see why they would do this for free and given it's value is probably £20 at best, seems a waste of time.  I'd just throw it in the bin.

cheers hayesey, i have messaged the previous owner so see if that helps but like you say ill prob just end up binning it if nothing comes of it!  keep finding random bit about this car the more i clean it etc lol ahh second hand cars eh!  ;D

as long as you don't find any body parts I'd not worry too much :D

bmxthrash

hahahaha yeah that would be gross but funny  :D

Bring it to Polo Show if you want and I'll take a look.

It's a performance ECU chip from bartek, a g-ladder tuner based in Cologne in Germany from memory, left it in the ash tray by mistake in around 2004ish
