Well we've not had one for a while but we used to always have a night out on the lash after a rolling road day and crash out in a hotel/travel inn.  We always used to go out in Wolverhampton as it's just down the road from Brierley Hill where Aldon Automotive are.  This time we are thinking about central Birmingham instead.

So, who's up for it?

And also, can anyone recommend a cheapish place to sleep?  Requirements are:

- must have a roof on it (we stayed at one place once that didn't!)
- secure car parking definitely a good thing.
- near to pubs and clubs...

cheers,
Paul.

Right as requested Mr Hayes here is some info on hotels. My cousin lives in brum so the info is from him I've not looked myself tbh. I myself will be going.

Hotel IBIS...In China town next to bars...£65 per night, max 2 people - 0121 622 6010, parking £10 for 24hrs over the road from hotel in secure car park?

ETAP Hotel ...close to centre...£38 a night, max3 people - 0121 622 7575‎, limited car parking space

Campanile Hotel...2 min taxi ride from center...£70 for 2 people - 0121 359 3330‎, barrier on car park

That just about does it for the cheapest...there are others but you'll be talking over a ton per night.

but are we going to be able to park cars though?  We'll have pretty a much a car per person

Yep depends what area the Etaps are in too. If they dont offer secure parking you could be leaving the car in a bit of a riskie part of town.

I don't suppose he knows how strict or blaggable these hotels are with their room number limits do you?

I mean the Novotel we used to stay at in Wolverhampton was something like 3 per room and that wasn't cheap but we used to blag 6 or 7 people in each room so it's cheap as fuck then.  They got stricter about it eventually but some people just hide behind curtains and things when securitas check the room.

Alex

I'm game for this, if anything more than the rolling road day itself!

Pass-out has been granted, and it's my b'day on the Sunday - so I'm in. Not too far for me now either!

Right, been looking at travel lodges.  We have two options:

1. hotel which is about half a mile from Snobs club.  £22 per person (£66 per room, 3 per room) per night BUT it'll then be another £5 on top of that for over night parking and it's in the city centre so no idea how secure it'll be.  There's also an NCP 600 yards away which is also £5 for over night.

2. hotel which is 5 to 6 miles from the club.  £17 per person per night (£51 per room, 3 per room).  Best thing is that they have a 45 space free car park, first come first served but I can't see it being busy at that time of year.  Only downside is that we'll have to get a taxi into town and back.

I think option 2 sounds like it'll be cheaper as long as we all pile into a minibus type taxi there and back.

What do people think?

i'll be down for the RR part but its my mates b-day too so we'll have to head back for a pissup. Sounds like theres gonna be a good time had by all though!

Count me in on this, I'm quite happy to book a room then figure out who needs somewhere to crash later. I recon we should go with the one 5/6 miles from town with the car park, not too happy about leaving bluey in some dodgy ncp or something.

Liz

has anyone decided which hotel or booked yet?

hayesey

yeah a travel inn about 5 miles away, not bothering booking anything will just turn up!

Liz

ok cool hopefully will be enough of us to make sharing work out cheap.

hayesey

well it going to be three to a room by the looks of it.  I think the only thing to do is just go and see who turns up and then sort it out there!  Although I know as a woman, you'll probably want much more of a proper plan than that  ;D
