GT40 - one different project
« on: June 16, 2011, 10:16:23 pm »
May be some of you know this topic:

http://www.polog40.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,2800.0.html

So... all the things gone in this car and it was fully disassembled.

As you see the place for spare tyre was removed and welded flat... The rear bumper got some mods.

The front bumper was moded too for FMIC 450x180x65mm

It's not with perfect shapes, but this is not the most important thing.

First I'm working on the coupe/chasis. It needs some mods (you'll see why). Next comes the suspension. After suspension is the drivetrain and gearbox and the final step is the motor. It will be still standart PY block (but may be only the block and crank ;D) because here in Bulgaria the chasis number must match the motor number, of course turbocharged with GT2259 or GT2560. Some mods will be done for cooling system, motor and gearbox mounts and some... The project is very slowly going (because the lack of money), but I'll update with pictures in every step made in the day.

I can, but then the car goes street-illegal and then I can drive it only on the track.
Today I cutted new bottoms for the driver and passenger sides to change my damaged ones. If I got money one of the next days I'll got a new higher tunnel. Pictures next days in the progress.

Exist not a simple way, to registering the car with engine wich don't have code!
Police puts in the documents that "car with no engine number", only then you can change engines!  ;D
That is Bulgaria - 50's years after you, thats why when world end comes only BG will survive, cause we are 50's year behind the world  ;D ;D ;D

Some progress:

One of the bottoms is in its place and just need some more welding and treating with body.

New place for one of the motor mounts...

The temporary rad (stock G40 with slim-line fan)

And the motor in to check the right position for it.

These days will keep working on it.

The front engine mount is almost ready, just need some support to be welded.

Tomorrow I'll mount the gearbox bell to make 2 of the rest 4 mounts.

Getrag 240 with 3.90 diff. Custom clutch to fit it on the stock (or lightened) flywheel.
