Where do these plugs go. Now no spark

I think the one with the thick red wire goes to the plug that goes off underneath to the starter motor.

But the other I'm stumped.

yeah top one mounts on that bracket normally next to the throttlebody, i think. But you should have an empty wire somewhere?

the other brown wires could be your coolant sensor, but not quite sure on the location form the pic

what dan says.

top one looks like the middle one on the inlet manifold next to the lambda connector.
bottom one i would say is collant sensor on the bottle.

Without looking at a car, the bottom one looks too spaced apart to be a sensor and I thought brown wires were generally Earths.
Is it not a connector related to Earths that sits on the plate to the right of the inlet manifold when looking at the engine?

Again could be completely wrong, I've got 2 wiring looms and both are nowhere near cars to check at the moment!

There is no spare place for the plug in the last pic to go on that rail. I have looked through the (show me your engine bays) thread and it looks like it goes to the top of the expansion tank but my car doesn't have this sensor there.

I have plugged all the remaining wires into place, apart from the co-pot (as i haven't got one yet) I wanted to see if i was getting a spark, which im not, does this co-pot need to be plugged in for the ECU to recognise before it will issue a spark or not?

stu g4T

Are you doing a G40 conversion?

That would explain why you don't have the sensor on your coolant header tank.
The lower spec cars didn't have the sensor on the header tank.

As for spark, I don't think the CO pot needs to be plugged in in order for a spark, but I'm sure someone that knows a lot more can correct me!

yea im doing a conversion.

Can any one help with regards to not getting a spark.

Would it make any difference that i swapped over all the wires for a g40 set from the bulkhead. I dont think so but just thought i may ask.

extreme6

brown wires are for expansion bottle and red/blue  blue starter motor feed on inlet  manifold

extreme6

check your coil loom as there are two plugs which are identical if you plug the wrong one in hence no spark i done the same thing and had no spark.

gavin.starr

I cant seem to find an identical plug on the coil loom. there is only the one that is anywhere within reaching distance.

extreme6

just checked my car that wiring looks bang on to me so that cant be your problem could be your dizzy or coil.

gavin.starr

Cheers fella.

Why cant things just be straight forward  >:(. The coil is brand new so i cant see it being that but ill check the dizzy. The plug that goes into the top of the dizzy (hall sender) i think is there any way of checking that this is giving out the right signals?

gavin.starr

figured it out.

No dizzy arm  ::), but now my battery is flat.

gavin.starr

now sparking, but doesnt want to run. whats the timing secuence? just so i can double check.
