Just spoke to Lancaster Insurance, £340 on a limited mileage (3000) policy... I thought that was very reasonable tbh.. They want an extra £80 for an exhaust though...

It's worth asking - but will depend on the car and circumstances. My old man manages to insure his Jensen on a classic car policy despite it being significantly modified.

HIC will do your G as a classic even if modded.

HIC Quoted me £400 6 weeks ago with full blend, suspension, ind. kit and a few other things. Parked on the drive, no security, Fully comp, ability to drive other cars, protected no claims (9yrs), 27yr old male with an SP30 2yrs ago. I believe my postcode is magic though, lol. Last time I checked I was in the lowest band area you could get luckily.

Thing with HIC is they don't charge you for mods (apart from a fee to update the policy) unless it significantly increases power, even then it's never much more than originally quoted.

I just got quoted £530 from Brentacre, £430 from Flux and £420 from Sky.

2 years no claims on the Polo (8yrs on the S2000).
all mods declared.
Cat 1 Alarm and Immo
5k miles a year.
3rd party fire and theft
3 points

Last year it was £310 from Flux.

Can't seem to get it any lower, i will ring HIC i think and see what they say.

They will ask you whether you have been quoted by Flux and if they have they wont quote you as its the same company these days.

HIC will do it for £416 as a classic car so you don't use your NCB nor do you gain any. I will ring Flux tomorrow to see if they are willing to do it for £400.

Sky are always up for a haggle too.

I miss living in Cambridge every insurance renewal time - it had a decent postcode, even though I wasn't living in a great area at all. Now I'm in a nice area, but have a Coventry postcode = fail.

£248 including breakdown recovery with HIC. Could have gone down to less than £190 for basic fully comp. New policy is with declared mods and looking for an agreed value when finalised. Moostn't groomble.
