Is it still possible to buy a code reader for the g40  i have been trying to track dow an intermitent problem for some time now with no succes

don't bother with any of the simple code readers you can get, if you can find one that actually works with a g40 (which is unlikely I think) then it'll be fairly useless anyway.  VAGCOM/VWTOOL, reading sensor values and some common sense is the best method.

Only one i know of is a local mates made by Ross-Tech & cost £180 secondhand.
Its the official Vag reader.
He only has limited connectors at mo though till we source some more.
