Exhausts
« on: September 22, 2008, 09:16:50 am »
Hi all,

Not entirely sure what I'm asking here but just a research post really.

My G needs a new exhaust.  It's got the original one on there and it's pretty rotten!

Want to keep it standard so just waiting on a price from VW.  Is this the best way to go about buying a new one or can you just get a standard one made up from somewhere?

Also, although I want to keep it standard would you recommend getting a standard exhaust or would it be happier with something different?

All comments welcome!

Many thanks

Gemma

well if you go to somewhere like a Longlife dealer I'm sure they'll make you one up that is basically standard spec but nice stainless steel.  I'd have thought it'd be more expensive than a standard system though so I'd wait and see what price that is first.  I know Pete recently bought some standard exhaust bits (a back box section at least...) so he'll probably shed more light on this!

I got a patern (copy) no-brand back box for £80 off a mate in the trade. It's done 5k in 6 months and is OK. The supplier is somebody up in Newcastle, I can find out who if anybody is interested.

Thanks guys :)  Useful info ....

Trying to get as much as I can that is VW so will go with their option for around £200 fo the whole thing.  I need to get it done soon as it's an embarrasment with either a rusty broken off tailpipe or a barry stick on one to cover it!

Just had to turn down a VW battery though as it was double other ones!
