help! bilsteins!

hi there! i was suppose to buy bilstein b8's for my car, but i rode a vw with those shocks fitted and was way to stiff! also portuguese roads are harsh for the shocks.

so i went to bilstein b4's. i want to lower the car by 40mm, but the b4's are standard shock height, and i want to get the piston/axle machined to get it lowered and it get stiffer as the springs are more compressed.

can someone tell me the piston height difference between b8 and b4?
