I replaced my regulating valve this weekend becuase i thought it was damaged and leaking. but it turns out it is not leaking it just has a breather hole on the top which over the 19 years my engine has been alive has just accumilated some oil on top!

so i replaced it any way and have my old one for sale. it looks to be absolutely perfect condition no leaks or cracks or anything like that,

just the plastic clip is broken on it that holds it down, but that doesnt matter much becuase its such a tight fit anyway so wont ever come out!!

It is a genuine VW part and costs over £30 brand new from VW
£15
Location Witney, Oxfordshire.

Hi, would the car be ok to remove the regulating valve? And run it without.  As all my breather hoses and dome are clear but I'm still having oil come out the top of the dipstick when I give it some.

If there is no valve but the hose is still connected to the breather then u are pressurizing your oil pan. If you want to run without the valve then I suggest you vent the breather to the atmosphere via a air filter or you use an oil catch can and you vent that to the atmosphere!
