You don't need to.
The ECU handles all that using the anti knock sensor and its maps.
Just set the dizzy to its base setting is all you can do.

its base setting?!!!

it needs to be set to 5 degrees advance +/- 1 degree.

To do this you have the car warm.  Unplug the blue temp sender, then rev it a couple of times to which should raise revs to about 1200rpm.

Look at crank pulley, you should see the mechanical timing mark(on left) and the ignition timing mark (on the right)

If you have an advance timing gun - set the advance to 5 degrees advance +/- 1 degree. (i use 6 as a rule) then point it at the crank pulley. Adjust dizzy so when it flashes the mechanical timing mark is on the pointer.

If you have a fixed timing gun.  Adjust the dizzy so when it flashes the ignition timiing mark is on the pointer.

Re plug blue temp sender and the revs should drop.  it should idle sweet - if not then check your idle speed and adjust.... and if still sh1t - you may have other issues (co pot/lambda)

what if your crank pulley doesnt have a marker? Like toothies.

psd toothies do have one! or should i say 2.

best thing to do without one - is to use a dial gauge down plug no1, then when its definately at tdc, mark the crank pulley.
