Technical documentation

Product: Bonrath Top Mount Bearing
Type: DS 3s
Part number: 9O43s
Installation time: c 180 min
Special tools: jack, spring clamp
Mounting instructions: 1.10 / 08.02.2001

Read installation instructions carefully before installation. Ensure you have the essential tools and enough time so that you do not rush. Check before mounting that all parts have been shipped.

Important notes (read)! Installation of the cap can be done incorrectly if you do not follow the procedure of a workshop manual. It is always advisable to have the fitting of these top caps checked by an authorized garage.
Included:

- Two top mounts marked DS-3S
- Two top mount retainers marked DC 3-AS chrome
- Fasteners
- Parts advice.

Mounting instructions: DS-3s

1. Installation is completed as you would for the original top mounts. The supplied chrome dome retaining cap (DC 3-AS) should be exchanged for the original part. The new rubber ring only fits onto this part not the original. The threaded part of the shock absorber spring seat to top cap should be spaced out with a spacer as shown. H & R Coil-over suspension can be fitted by using a washer (35 x 20.5 x 4 mm. VAG order number 171.407 277).

2. Camber/caster correction: Fitting the bearing (slim side of rubber) towards the outside of the vehicle increases positive camber by degree (reduces negative camber degree for severely lowered cars which wear tyres excessively on inner edges), fitting the bearing (slim side of rubber) towards the centre of the vehicle will increase negative camber by degree (better turn in bite for faster cornering). Placing the slimmer side of the bearing to the rear increases caster (better self centering and more high speed stability but heavier steering again good for severely lowered cars), placing the slimmer side of the bearing to the front decreases caster.

i think they look good for the money!

dub-disaster

They do look good, but what's the benifits of having these over standard top mounts ?? Are they the same design as the g-ladersite eccentric ones??
If they are much better I'll use these instead of stand ones as I've got the struts out now, do they need matching up with the same on the rear aswell ??

polo classic

Bonrath ones are crap. Mine did not even last a year

Jezza-7

Yeah they are a catherdrial type but will stay away if they didnt last long. I thought polyurethane was ment to last ages?

polo classic

yes, but the bearings don't
