250cc injectors, yes or no?
« on: September 13, 2010, 02:26:56 pm »
basically i have a stage 4 charger, 65mm tooth pulley kit, schrick camshaft, running a ppp chip, gas flowed head with 1mm larger valves, De-wedged throttle body, 4 branch manifold, fmic. ive currently got problems including a fooked injector, is it time to upgrade to 250cc injectors and map? will i get a gain from this or are the standard injectors ok? cheers

you don't get a power upgrade from changing injectors, you change injectors if you are running approaching or more power than the injectors you are currently using can supply fuel for.  So if you aren't getting on for 170bhp (rough estimate) then the standard injectors are OK.  Although it's worth getting injectors ultrasonically cleaned and flow tested if they are old, if they block up or stop working then it tends to cause piston meltage.  You might think it's worthwhile swapping to new brand new (or 2nd hand cleaned & tested) 250cc injectors with suitable chip all at once so you have more scope for increasing power in the future without having to worry about injector sizes for a while.
