hi all,
sent my engine tobe stripped and checked over and theyve found that the piston the cylinderwall clearance is a bit high it around 5thou of an inch on 1,2 and 4 cylinders and 5 and 5 and a half thou on cylinder 3 i phoned accralite and spoke to them and they reccomend that the cylinder to piston clearance is between 0.08mm-0.1mm mine is 0.1397mm at its worst.
Is this realy worth buying a new block and having it machined out for ?? or would any one just run the engine like this? i dont know much about this subject so just wanted some advice on it the engine shop said it would use more oil and probably breathe heavier because of it ad i might get piston slap when cold and im guesing the engine will wear out wuicker than usual.
Also on a side not the oil pump has sucked up alot of crap and needs replacing even though the engine was" exellent engine just run in " from philj  just wondered if people use genuine vag or are gsf one alright ?
