1600 head - has it been done?
« on: September 03, 2010, 07:33:31 am »
Hey guys n girls, i recently swapped a 1L to a 1.6L(aee) in a 6n and noticed that the ports are the same height on each but where the 1L is oval the 1.6L is circular and therefore is a much wider bore! Now i have a spare lying around and a g40 that is off the road... So i wondered if anyone else had tried this swap obv. I would swap the valves, cam, followers and dizzy, and re-seat the valves. The stud pattern is dif on the inlet so would need a custom jobby but would really need this to take advantage of the wider bored head... Would like to hear if this has been done or if anyone is aware of any draw backs or reasons this could not be done? E.g 1600Head could result in a dif c.r? All advise/criticism welcome! Cheers ad

IIRC the 1.6 cyl heads have combustion chambers in the head, therefore on a G40 you will need new pistons to get a workable compression ratio.
