im having my throttle body ported to 51mm as im fitting a gt manifold aswell but where do i get a larger butterfly from,
also do you get the boost return valve ported where it mates to the TB aswell.
thanks, liam

hayesey

not much point porting the boost return but it's worth porting the throttle elbow that sits on top of the throttle body.

liam

thats the one i meant i think :-\.
forgive me im not as clued up as some people on here, what about the butterfly hayes can you help me with that one.

hayesey

the boost return butterfly or the throttle?  If it's being ported to 51mm then they'll have to make a 51mm butterfly to fit it

liam

the throttle body mate, as the title says,
i`ll speak to my mate who`s doing the work and see if he can make one for me as i would`nt really want to atempt it my self.

this is on from a mk 2 golf gti throttle body I had hanging around dunno if you can make it fit though !!

Yoof

Liam- there was a guy selling them on e-bay.de a while back. The chamfer on the edge is key for a good seal, and one that doesn't hunt near idle.

I've fettled mine to the point it hardly hunts, but it's taken about 5 goes of taking it on/off and some wet & dry- proper pita!

dub-disaster

Got mine done by juan I know he's banned on here but I think I may end up having to mess about with mine as it doesn't look like it seals perfectly. Only problem is the screws in the butterfly have been centre punched on the back so real pain in the ass to get out.
Yoof how'd you lock your screws in blue  loctite ??

Yoof

Yeah just 243 loctite, not had any problems with methanol washing it off either.

giorgio

you can buy un drilled butterflies off the internet

dub-disaster

Yea wish I'd done my body myself rather than sending it to juan it closes up pretty well but not perfectly.
Whats best to get screws out that have been Centre punched on the bottom ?? Drill them out n start again ??
Where abouts can you get blank butterflys ??
