I am getting new driveshafts for my G40 as part of my rebuild the left one is available adn fits all G40s but the Right (with balance weight)one is obsolite and seems to change depending on what gearbox you have.

my G runs a Standard ATV box. but etka lists a different driveshaft for CEK boxes so dont think it will fit?. so i need to chose one that will mate up.

i was going to go for a 8P one as im sure the flanges are identical as i run that in my GT but etka lists the 8p one as a diesil one so bit scared to order it incase diesils are totally different.

anyone any wiser?

the ones for very late mk3 polos are slightly shorter due to the different flange on the gearbox, you want one for an earlier box.

genesisGT

yes it is for an early box 91/92.

ok thanks so CEK, 8P and ATV should all be the same flange on early boxes so go for a low chassis number match should help my chances of the right one.

hayesey

Isn't CEK a late box?  The late ones had different codes to the early ones.  E.G. a late 8P is CEG.

genesisGT

just back form VW at lunch time CEG one is available but the 8P and ATV are obsolite.

I'd just buy new CV joints, not really any need to buy a brand new shaft, it wont be any better than a 2nd hand (undamaged!) one.

I have both a CEK and ATV and they have different offside flanges. All the C** code boxes are late spec and use the shorter offside drive shaft.

genesisGT

thank nick wont waste my money on that one.

since they done seem to do a pair anymore i might go down the strip them down powdercoat them route hayesey, although its a bit more hastle.

cheers!
