cool pics, do you have larger copies of any you could email or are those as big as they are?

I wonder where all these cars are now?  I'd love to buy one.

They are as big as they get.

Makes you wonder where they have all gone. Think most have been broken for parts.

Volkswagen ran 2 cars as works entries in 1992-93. The guest car was No.1 with such people as Chris Goffey getting one off drives. The factory car was number 11 which was being driven by Jonny Milner as he brought the Shell sponsorship with him from the british rally championship the previous year. After VW decided to launch the VW Vento Championship in 1994. VW agreed to sell both the 2 Shell Polo's. However, They both got written off at Thruxton at the last round of 1993, so they built a new car from a spare shell and thats the red No. 43 you see in the pictures.

As to where they are all now. Some of them ran in the BRSCC SuperCoupe Series in 1995 - 1999. Most were sold for trackdays (including mine) and were broken up for there parts after being crashed etc. I believe some engines & gearbox's have seen new life in road cars judging by the forum entries.

The G40 race car was great fun to drive. It hopped & skipped it's way round corners & carried alot of corner speed purely because the brakes weren't up to the job to slow it down enough. In fact they were so much fun to drive. I bought a road car version as well.

Happy days!!!

Craig, are you still racing the G40?  I know your competing with the beetle this year, wondered if the polo has been shelved for this year?  Any plans for future development, wide track etc?

Haven't run it this year but plan to dig it out again next year, been to busy running the Bugs this year in the series I started (www.beetlechallenge.com)
No plans to change the car, want to keep it eligible for as many series as possible best fit for the Polo's look like the Classic Touring cars Pre 93 and the Toyo series so going to leave it as is.
