VW Specialist/G40 Specialist
« on: June 10, 2010, 06:45:58 pm »
Hi was wondering if anybody knows any G40 specialist in the Warwickshire Area.
My car has a water leak and a oil leak and have had it checked out from my Mechanic but he specialises in fords and doesnt really want to touch it.

He said

Oil leak  -
Possible cause: Excessive crank case pressure due to blocked or partially blocked crank case breather pipe system or worn crankshaft oil seals or worn piston rings/bores.

Water Leak -
Coming from expansion tank.
Possible cause : Excessive cooling system pressure due to head gasket failure or cracked cylinder head.

But the car runs fine, with no loss of power or performance.

Would just like a Specialist or someone whos is familiar with the car so i can get what is needed.

THink i i need  a,

CHemical test
COmpression Test
Thermostat and cooling fan test
Steam clean
Radiator flow test

Any reccomendations or help would be very much appriciated,

Thanks

RIch

My suggestion is get a new mechanic.  G40's are extremely basic cars to work on.  If he 'doesn't want to touch it' he doesn't sound like he is very competent.  Get another mechanic.  No need for a specialist other than for the charger to be honest.

i would probably say

Oil leak  -
Possible cause: Excessive crank case pressure due to blocked or partially blocked crank case breather pipe system or worn crankshaft oil seals or worn piston rings/bores.

probably cause - blocked breather! - clean out or get a new one

Water Leak -
Coming from expansion tank.
Possible cause : Excessive cooling system pressure due to head gasket failure or cracked cylinder head.

probable cause - crap expansion tank cap - get a new one
